Last of this short run “A Very Special” series (first one on the topic of “service” here; and the second one on the topic of “people” here).
A huge “Thank you!” to all those that voted in the Top vBlog 2015 contest. A Special “thank you” for those that voted for Virtual Geek – which came in the #8 spot! For those of you that don’t know about this – it’s become a big part of the community, and a tradition.
It forced me to look up some stats – and it’s a little embarassing :-) I’ve been blogging since 2008 (virginal post here), have done 777 blog posts, and have almost 5 million lifetime hits.
In listening to the live google hangout where some friends were discussing it (here – at the 43 minute mark) It’s something frankly that I treasure – not “in spite” of my executive role, but in fact “because of it”. I have a huge sensitive spot about losing my technical chops as I do more and more every day in different dimensions – and remain so happy that people get something from the blog.
There is no greater reward for all the work that goes into these blogs than running into a stranger at a customer or partner, and discovering that they aren’t a stranger, in fact they are a reader/commenter. Getting voted in the #8 spot is a huge honour – it’s an impressive list, and impressive individuals! I can’t encourage you strongly enough to subscribe to many of the other blogs on that list!
Now – back to our regularly scheduled tech content :-)
EMC World is mere weeks away, demos and keynotes are in full panicked construction, the face-melting meter is set to 11 :-) Can’t wait to see Fall Out Boy and One Republic!
See you at EMC World!
