EMC SEs in my team get a quarterly training package which is about 6-10 hours of content. It’s structured to inform our field BEFORE things arrive. This is one of three major parts how we continually train and hone skills – the other parts (even more important) are: bootcamps and vLab. Bootcamps are local, small, intimate and intense. We ran ones focused on Oracle, SAP and Microsoft in Q2, and in Q3 they are focused on SDDC (vCloud Suite and Openstack).
But – the quarterly online content is the critical “baseline” to keep up with what is new, what is coming, what is changing.
Like bootcamps and vLab – I want everything open to our partners, so right at the beginning of being in this new gig, I put down a challenge to the team: “unless we are able to open this up to partners (who have NDAs) – with no material changes/edits - I will stop driving it into the EMC technical SE teams”.
Great news – they delivered, and this has become “institutionalized” over the last 3 quarters as what we call unofficially “Backstage Pass” (officially called “Velocity Maintenance”). If you’re an EMC partner – click on the link below.
(reminder – if you’re internal – the same content is available here)
Here’s what's in this quarters package:
- Consolidated Midrange Technical SE training – this has the detailed awesomesauce on the upcoming _____ product. BTW – you’re crazy if you’re a partner and you don’t register for your local “Take it to the Streets” event. Engineering, product teams – all coming out to YOU around the globe through November… Register here.
- XtremSW Cache 2.0 Technical SE training – XtremSW got a cool refresh, worth checking out.
- Q3 Consolidated BRS megalaunch SE training
- USD (which is VNX and VNXe) Architecture + Futures – this is crazy good content from the always awesome Susan Sharpe!
- ASD (which is SRM and ViPR) SE training – amazing cool stuff on ViPR
- Flash Today and Tomorrow (lots of XtremIO info in here)
- Mitrend, vLab, Install Base and other tools update – as well as the direction we’re going.
- Isilon update and roadmap
- Data Domain OS 5.4 for SEs
- Avamar 7.0 Technical Differences for SEs
- Networker 8.1 Technical Differences for SEs
- There are also a whole slew that focus on solution stacks – SDDC (vCloud Suite and Openstack), Oracle, Microsoft’s app stack, SAP and more!
I’m fanatically focused on the idea that we should have NO airgap between us and our partners. What more do YOU want to see in free quarterly training content?
Hi Chad, I work for a partner company so checked this out but when I logged in and went to the "2013 Q3 Maintenance Velocity Systems Engineer: Consolidate section" it was empty. See pic for what I am seeing. http://tinypic.com/r/14v2nbb/5
The BRS one on the other hand is full of content.
Seems odd - Steven J

@Steven - thanks, can you try again? Apparently there was a short snafu that hit some folks.

Hi Chad,
Just to let you know this still does not work.
