REMEMBER – tune in for the big reveal on EMC Project Lightning on Monday (which will itself include the “hello world” of Lightning, but also the “hello world” for the NEXT big project in that vein) here. Trust me – it’s pretty darn cool. I’ll do a blog post on Monday – so stay tuned for that too..
ALSO – the window on the first wave of EMC Presales transformation is starting to close – the reqs I mentioned here have been up for a few days, and interviews start over the next two weeks. APPLY NOW. There will be subsequent waves too – remember to sign for email notification on virtualgeek (or to EMC’s Brassring HR site), and you’ll see ‘em as they post.
OK – read on for some things I thought were darn awesome and darn funny :-)
First of all – too good not to share. Below, customers sharing – in their own words (you can’t ask for more) – “why EMC for VMware?”. These were recorded back at VMworld Copenhagen at the end of 2011, and literally we just asked them for “say why you picked EMC, why EMC was #1 for you when it came to VMware”, and then they talked, and we recorded. All the stuff that goes into checking with the customer to make sure we can share is the root of the time delay, but it was worth it. Wow. THANK YOU.
[UPDATE: I’m pulling these next two down. I’ve gotten feedback that they are insensitive – and it’s more important to me to respect people’s feelings than to make a light hearted (innocent in spirit) post.]

BTW – Andre did a serious video series (less funny, but still very cool!) on the effect of FAST Cache (on top of a FAST pool) in one set of tests he was doing with VMware View in Santa Clara… Check these out:
VNX Fast Cache during boot (Fast Cache shows a 5x improvement):
VNX and Fast Cache during steady state (shows a 10x improvement in the end-user experience):
Regarding the "Downfall" subtitles:
Anyone knowing German (this involves whole Switzerland, Germany and Austria and those who learnt German or grew up in one of aformentioned countries) simply finds those parodies "not funny", since by understanding everything Bruno Ganz as Hitler says, the whole fun is spoiled.
Just a little thought/remark to all those applauding to such type of parodies.

@Jonas - I hear you. So - in the spirit of educating myself (no i didn't learn german), I watched the original with subtitles. IMO (and this is my opinion) - it highlights the hubris, the willful close-mindedness that led to the horrible history, but ALSO to the ultimate failure, rejection, and defeat (hence the word "Downfall" as the title of the movie).
A great quote (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downfall_(film))
...The film's director, Oliver Hirschbiegel, spoke positively about these parodies in a 2010 interview with New York magazine, saying that many of them were funny and they were a fitting extension of the film's purpose: "The point of the film was to kick these terrible people off the throne that made them demons, making them real and their actions into reality. I think it's only fair if now it's taken as part of our history, and used for whatever purposes people like."
THAT ALL SAID - I want to always live the spirit of my manifesto - and part of that is "be a positive force", so in that spirit (and not wanting to hurt anyone) - I've snipped the content out of the post.

@Chad, just came back from my holidays and read that you cut out the parodies from your post.
I feel honoured, that my comment moved you to this step, but maybe you misunderstood me; I didn't find it "tasteless" or otherwise offensive, thus no hurt feelings.
My point was only that the fun of false subtitles is lost for native German speakers listening to the - notably - great acting. Maybe some of it *might* even come back by muting the sound :-)
