In June – we’re covering VMware-centric backup, VMware/EMC sharing best practices for Oracle on vSphere performance and provisioning, a Unified Infrastructure Manager update (cool), Using Recoverpoint in Vblock deployments and then Chad’s Choice (which I do once every quarter).
There are a couple doozies already down (backup and Oracle) – though they are ALWAYS available for watching.
For this quarter, “Chad’s Choice” will be: “3 Pieces of Bad News and A Deep Dive into All Paths Dead”.
May sound academic – it’s not. It is CERTAINLY going to be marketing-free. I’m going to try something a little new – spending time on 3 recent VMware/EMC issues (VMAX, VNX, PP/VE), and discussing what they are, how they happen, and what we (VMware/EMC) do about them (input welcome). In there, there will be detailed discussions over the bugs themselves, how to use VMware/EMC communications (as a customer or a partner) to your advantage.
The second topic is important for any customer using any vendor’s block storage with VMware. The All Paths Dead (APD) behavior has changed a lot, and will continue (hint hint) to change in the future. Understanding this will help you as a customer/partner make your vSphere environment more resilient.
