This was an EMC session voted on by VMworld attendees that I decided to try to make multivendor based on the results from the survey I posted here.
I reached out to several folks in the community, and Vaughn Stewart accepted to co-present with me. We also collaborated on the content.
It covers a broad topic – everything critical about storage HA design (except performance sizing) across all protocols and across platforms and vendors. We wanted to make it practical, so it contains pot holes and how to avoid them. The session was tight for time, so we couldn’t demonstrate everything everyone does for VMware, so we demoed the multipathing behavior of EMC PowerPath/VE and how NetApp VSC configures multipathing.
Our goal was to cover things in an “as even-handed as possible way”, and to focus on the things “everyone needs to know, regardless of their storage vendor”.
