This was a session on vTeleportation – what we think it is, how we do it, why it’s important, and where we are going next, delivered by Beth Phalen the engineering VP responsible for VPLEX and I.
It covers the architectural innards of VPLEX, discusses some considerations, and also shows where we are going. It included a “futures” demonstration for VPLEX vTeleporting VMs over thousands of kilometers at very large latencies.
It covers, lightly – key considerations around both the “vMotion between clusters” and “vMotion + VM HA within a geographically stretched vSphere cluster”. It covers details around VPLEX partition behavior, which is important for any customer looking at these geographically stretched use cases. Scott Lowe also covered this in more detail in TA8101.
