We all do our blogs as labors of love – they take a lot of work, and it’s done completely on top of our day jobs.
I’ve found it a GREAT way to talk with customers, compatriots, and even respected competitors. It’s been a great way to meet new friends, and learn and share new things.
Last year in June, I made my inaugural entry on to Eric Siebert’s “Top VMware Blogs” list. It matters a lot (to me at least) as it’s the community voting based on the value they get.
That inaugural entry put me in the bronze place position, which you can see here: http://vsphere-land.com/news/and-the-winners-of-the-vmware-top-blog-are.html. At the time, I joked that Canadians usually get 4th place, just out of medal contention, but I was surprised, stunned, and honored to be voted #3 behind Duncan Epping and Scott Lowe. All the entries were top notch, and truly flattering to be in their company.
The vote for the new year is on, and once again, I’m honored to be a nominee standing alongside people who I think are great! You can see the nominees (who’s feeds I would strongly recommend) here.
In 2009, some of my more popular posts where:
- the multivendor "iSCSI on vSphere” post here
- the multivendor “NFS on VMware” post here
- the VMFS-3 best practices/anti FUD post here
- the “Microbursting and Queuing” post here
- Some vSphere bug reports and workarounds here and here
- An discussion of IOps and View/VDI use cases here (in a collective stream of consciousness, multiple bloggers hit on the same topic at the same time)
- The “thin on thin” post – consistently popular here
- The VCE launch post series which starts here
- And of course – the very popular “get your Celerra VSA” series which starts here (BTW, many more virtual appliances coming soon)
If you’ve liked/gotten value out of these, please vote – which can be done here.
Thanks, I appreciate the time, and appreciate the open dialog! Looking forward to an exciting 2010 (wait till you see what’s in store!)
Got my vote Chad. Massimo Re Ferre' over at it20.info is a close second.
