Obviously the focus is squarely on VMware, not EMC... BUT we've got a lot planned, and a lot of stuff to announce and make GA. Oh, I wish I could say!!!! The draft of this included a list of hints, but then I cut them - too big, and would have press speculating...
I'll be there, doing sessions, in the booth - and hopefully meeting you! This is a formal (geez- that tie makes me look so uptight :-) invite from me....
The EMC team has a small army again folks from HQ, and our field SEs in Europe, and has sent much gear to the show. Each session will include people getting virtual appliances and free software downloads to neat tools. So far, here are our accepted sessions:
Best Practices to Increase Availability and Throughput for the Future of VMware
This is going to be a detailed discussion along the lines of the iSCSI post here, but talking about iSCSI, NFS, FC and FCoE, and how it applies with the Nexus 1Kv and EMC PowerPath for VMware - with the requisite VMware pieces in RC, the same goes for both of those
VMware/Cisco/EMC breakout - Engineering Developments enabling the Virtual Datacenter
This is a "take the covers off" session covering some of the VMware/Cisco/EMC stuff I alluded to in the previous post. It's about more than just platforms and protocols (but includes that too!). We did this in VMworld 2008 in Vegas, and it was so popular, that we're going to make it an ongoing session, each time giving new information, more developments, etc - this is a journey. It's worth watching the videos from Vegas for a taste - and you can see them here.
Applying Emerging Technologies to Enhance VMware environments
lots of new technologies here in the last few years (deduplication, thin provisioning, array-integrated replication, Enterprise Flash, etc), and most people don't leverage what they have. This will be about how and where to leverage each
End-to-End Disaster Recovery Approach with SRM Failback
Oh this one is going to be a doozy - trust me, and come :-)
Optimizing SAP Production Systems on VMware
People are virtualizing mission critical apps - this will be about EMC and one of our key partners (ADDON) experiences virtualizing various SAP landscapes. Best practices, learning, and optimization - and where to leverage things like writeable snapshots for QA/Test/Dev, protecting it via SRM and other tools, etc.
If you haven't registered yet - you can get a 18% discount vs. the current price if you are an EMC customer. Click on the picture below, and enter the following code: VME09EMC
Now, a bit of pre-awareness.... VMworld Europe will be big, but this year, due to a variety of things - Partner Exchange will also be VERY big (April) - register here:
And EMC world (May) even more so - plus you get a Nano! Put them on your calendars. Trust me. 2009 will be a BIG year - our pedal is to the metal.
