Vaughn Stewart and I have a unique relationship :-) For years now, we’ve been on opposite sides of a common fence (Vaughn works for NetApp, I work for EMC) – but our passion for the technology, virtualization, and above all the customers makes us kindred spirits in many ways. Don’t get me wrong, we’re still very different people – but hey, that’s a very good thing!
We’ve co-presented at VMUG after VMUG, at VMworld after VMworld – and I look forward to it every time. We’ve collaborated on blog posts on things like NFS and iSCSI. In places we agree, in others, we disagree.
It’s fun to watch, but we do have a lot of respect for each other, and the companies we work for – so it tends to be cordial. Frank, blunt, but cordial – and always professional (maybe “smackdown” sounds a little harsh).
