VMworld 2011 Sneak-Preview Details and Links

All – the details behind VMworld 2011 are starting to solidify publicly, but there’s still lots to “sneak peak” :-)

Bogomil Balkansky (VP, Product Marketing at VMware) joined me on last-week’s live VMware/EMC webcast (every week, same bat-time and same bat-channel – Thursdays at 11am ET) which covered VMworld 2011.   We talked about:

• what’s big things are in store
• key sessions to attend
• a sneak peak at the epic hands-on-labs
• Some things to leverage for spouses
• Tips on locations and schwag
• and of course, the social scene – both in terms of social media, but also the night-life. 

The parties, and celebrations are (in my opinion) an important part of these tech conferences – the community is something that powers a lot.   Not only does it drive product stuff (and that feedback gets heard), but is incredibly useful in resolving problems – and those social events can connect vendors with each other, and customers with the folks who support them.

When the session was recorded on Thursday, VMware was on the verge of announcing the band for the Wednesday party – but the ink wasn’t quite dry…   I hinted at it in the recording – listen for it, and see if you can catch it :-)

HINT: THERE ARE LOTS OF HINTS LIKE THAT THROUGHOUT THE WEBCAST

Now, the band is known, and while NO band will make everyone happy – The Killers are, well (IMO) KILLER.   A great Vegas band for a great Vegas event!

Hey Chad, I caught your webcast last week and found it very informative - I already tweaked my schedule a bit to catch some of the sessions you recommended. I'm a first-timer to VMworld so I'm really looking forward to it.

I also reached out to our account manager to see if I could snag a pass to the EMC party on Tuesday night but apparently her division only got 1 and it has already been assigned. Any chance you could scrape one up for a VNX and Avamar customer? :)
