For those of you who were at VMworld 2009 in Cannes – you saw the early demonstration of leveraging VMware as platform to fundamentally do Data Loss Prevention in a BETTER way than you can in the physical world.
If you didn’t – the video was recorded, and is in the VMworld summary here: VMworld Europe 2009 – EMC Post Show Report
Another shoe drops – as this gets formalized. Not only are we integrating with the VMsafe APIs, but also extending things like VShield Zones with Data Loss Prevention, integrating our Security Event and Information Management (SEIM) capabilities in Envision with vSphere, and of course, delivering Authentication Manager in virtual deployment models.

No only is EMC leading the vStorage charge – but is integrated soup to nuts. As another example, Control Center/Storage Scope are already certified with vSphere, but also integrated (i.e. show different info for vSphere hosts). And here, the security side of the EMC equation.
I’m going to get back into my technical post groove soon enough – am on the road on the west coast so hard to pump out something solid :-)
